How can I search for accessible listings?
How to find stays for accessibility needs
Once you’ve chosen your destination, entered the dates you’ll be checking in and out, and entered the total number of guests, you can add additional filters to meet your accessibility needs.
Select “More Filters” on the search page.
Search for the Accessibility section and select “Choose features of your place to stay.”
Select the filters that meet your requirements.
Tip: To maximize your search results, it is helpful to select your top priority accessibility features and review each listing to make sure it meets all of your needs.
The search results will show listings that have the accessibility filters you selected. Select a listing that you are interested in to read the listing description, reviews from previous guests, or view photos.
Scroll down to review photos in the accessibility section.
If you are not certain or have any concerns, here are some helpful tips and examples of questions you may want to ask the host:
- Make sure to provide the host with the exact measurements that you need for any of the following:
- Doorway width to the entrance of the listing, to the bedroom, and to the bathroom
- Space around the bed
- Space around the bathroom
- Are there any steps to climb to get into the listing bedroom or bathroom on the main floor?
- Can you describe the pathway from the street/sidewalk to the front entrance? Are there any steps, steep inclines, gravel, etc.?
- Is it possible to move furniture (coffee/side tables, ottomans, etc.) to make more space to move around?
- Is there adequate lighting to the entrance of the listing to help guide a guest with low vision?
- Do you have a digital version of your guidebook and rules?
If your search results are limited, note that adding accessibility information is entirely optional for hosts, so they may not include this information. You may consider expanding your search without the using accessibility filters. Even if a listing doesn’t have accessibility features selected, it doesn’t mean they don’t exist. If you find a listing that may work for you, it’s worth contacting the host to see if it can work for your needs.
